Living up to our personal and professional responsibility to support the communities in which we live and work.

We recognize our duty to donate talents, time and resources to benefit greater society. Whether donating money, volunteering time or legal expertise, or bringing awareness to important causes, we invest in community programs to ensure our people can bring their passions and purpose-led selves to work. Our people are supported and empowered to make an impact on the communities and causes that matter most to them.

“Responsible business to us means pulling together to make the world a better place.” Mark Wasserman, Co-Chief Executive Officer

“Our innovation and knowledge services professionals partnered with Fastcase and Georgia State University to develop a new technology tool to better search and analyze court records.”

Our global pro bono commitment

Marginalized individuals who do not have access to a lawyer encounter incredible barriers to social mobility and the most basic human rights. We seek to use our legal skills for the greater good through our pro bono program that engages both lawyers and legal professionals around the world. We are committed to representing vulnerable clients and taking on projects that aim to improve society using skilful and accessible legal advice.

As a part of this commitment, we’re proud to have a global team of 120+ lawyers and legal professional volunteers form the US, UK, Middle East, and Germany working in partnership with Amicus, Florida International University Law Clinic and the Florida Center for Capital Representation to monitor death penalty activity in Florida’s 11th and 4th circuits. This project builds on our commitment to death penalty representation and combatting the death penalty as a human rights matter.

Moving together to support WaterAid

Global Running Day is an annual campaign where all of our people band together to raise funds and awareness for WaterAid’s mission. We share the belief that clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene are a basic human right and should be a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere. Over the years our people have run, walked, biked and wheeled thousands of miles, and raised tens of thousands of dollars, in celebration of the good work of our partners at WaterAid.

“By working together, we can enable entire communities to unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.” – WaterAid

“Adequate food access is at the core for children and families being able to thrive.”

Stepping Up to the Plate for Food Banks

In response to a surge in need for food donations around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns, our Step Up to the Plate challenge asked our people to commit to walking, running, biking or wheeling 10km and donating $10/£10/€10 (or local equivalent) to their local food bank. In true Eversheds Sutherland fashion, thousands joined in and we raised $40,000 to increase food access around the world.

Underpinning all we do

We are proud to be a participant in the UN Global Compact and to support the ten principles and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the Compact.  This is a public pledge of our commitment to being a responsible business and will help us to evaluate our progress through annual reporting to the UN.
